The JR Panthers' program is designed to give anyone their first exposure to the sport of football, wearing the equipment, being part of team and getting coached in a encouraging yet competitive atmosphere.  JR Panthers is for U8 players, or players who will turn 6 or 7 years old this calendar year.  We don't accept 5 year olds (born in 2014) as per Football Canada mandate and can accept 8 year olds if they need more development before moving into the Tyke program.  JR Panthers don't play traditional games, but work all season starting with individual skills athletic skills and building up through safe contact against air to hitting bags and running drills at full speed.

With a maximum team size of 32 players, the Panthers try to keep the coach to player ratio at 4:1.

The program will begin practices in July. The team will practice twice per week once on a weeknight and once Saturday morning. Depending on the on-field success and weather the season usually runs though the end of September, but could be extended into October.

The season fee includes the loan of equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, knee pads, game and practice pants, practice jersey, mouthguard), a t-shirt, all team sessions including the end of season banquet. Additional fees include the Football Canada National Registration Fee ($54), protective girdle (unless you already own one that fits), photography, replacement mouthguards and any individual fundraising the team chooses to undertake (parents have a say here).  There is a $50 non-refundable component of the season fee that goes toward equipment purchases and field rental.
